The Economic Impact of Nonprofit Corporations:
San Luis Obispo County, California 2005

A Signature Project of United Way of SLO County and Pacific Gas and Electric Company
 

GOALS

  • Document the contributions of SLO County nonprofit public benefit corporations to the economic health and social well-being of SLO County citizens through employment, revenue generation, purchasing power, service provision and volunteer engagement;
  • Develop public awareness about the vital role nonprofit corporations play in the economic and social health of SLO County - building community, preserving culture and helping residents prosper;
  • Increase and expand media coverage of SLO County nonprofit corporation needs and service issues;
  • Increase the ability of SLO County nonprofit corporations to leverage funding to more adequately meet community needs;
  • Create ongoing dialogues about the social fabric of our county among government, business, nonprofits, community leaders, foundations and residents.
