Rick London

Rick is a longtime resident of the Central Coast and has been with United Way of SLO County since 1999, first serving as its chief financial officer.  He spearheads the organization’s professional leadership, planning and oversight and guides United Way’s focus on education, income and health with an eye towards prevention and well being.  In particular, he enjoys being involved with the Community Impact Fund allocation, Youth Board, Born Learning, Money Talks For Teens and Nonviolent Communication programs.

Rick has a degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from CSU Northridge.  His passions include volunteering with the Foundation for San Luis Obispo County Public Libraries, low power FM radio and studying theosophy.  He enjoys walking, working the land and spending time with his family at their Nipomo home.

Charlene Rosales, Chief Operating Officer, crosales@unitedwayslo.org, ext. 14

Charlene, a resident of San Luis Obispo since 1985, has been with United Way of SLO County since 2004. She currently oversees the efficiency and delivery of services of the organization and manages its marketing and fundraising campaigns, including the ongoing cultivation of resources to fulfill the mission of United Way in the areas of education, income and health.

Charlene is a member of the SLO Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and serves on its Executive Committee, past president of the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo Daybreak and chair serving on the City of SLO Human Relations Commission. Her volunteer involvement also includes the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, I Care International and the SLO County YMCA. Charlene enjoys spending time with friends and family, including her long-time boyfriend and their two Labrador Retrievers.

 

Charlene Rosales

After graduating from Cal Poly, Kara spent two years in AmeriCorps where she got to know the staff and inner workings of United Way of SLO County. She started her current position in 2007, managing United Way’s grant programs and special initiatives, and strives to bring an innovative approach to the community to better serve the needs of local individuals and organizations. When not in the office, Kara enjoys being outdoors and is an avid snowboarder.

Horace Morana, Resource Development Coordinator, hmorana@unitedwayslo.org, ext. 15

Horace started volunteering for United Way in early 2008 when he became a grant reader and later joined United Way’s Community Impact Committee. In 2009 Horace became a staff member and part of the resource development team. He is responsible for planning, organizing and managing local United Way workplace giving programs, including Global Corporate Leadership (NCL) accounts and the California State Employees Charitable Campaign (CSECC).

Horace has a degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly. Before joining United Way, he enjoyed a 30-year career in sales and marketing. He has always had a passion for libraries and is on the board of the Foundation for San Luis Obispo County Public Libraries.

Dominique has been with United Way of SLO County since 2007. As Bookkeeper, she is responsible for tracking and entering donations, paying out designations and other office finance activities. Dominique is active in many volunteer activities including the Arroyo Grande High School Band Boosters and the AGHS Robotics Club. She has lived in Shell Beach since 1994 with her husband, Lonny, and son, Joseph.

Cominique Simonian

Jessica Blum, AmeriCorps VIP Fellow, jblum@unitedwayslo.org, ext. 10

Jessica has returned to San Luis Obispo from the Eastern Sierras for the opportunity of serving United Way as an AmeriCorps member. While majoring in Communication Studies at Cal Poly, she became active in community service as a “Best Friends” volunteer as well as co-director of “Senior Services”. As a director, she had the role of planning events and recruiting volunteers. She found being involved in philanthropic events to be motivating and she was inspired by those with a heart for helping others. Her service as an AmeriCorps member is to help United Way of SLO County develop its volunteer infrastructure.
