Workplace Giving

When everybody gives a little something, together, we can make a big difference. When you run a Workplace Giving Program, your contribution stays local and goes towards programs which serve the community in the areas of education, income and health.

BENEFITS TO YOUR BUSINESS AND YOUR EMPLOYEES

Providing employees with meaningful opportunities to give back to the community at the level they feel comfortable is a benefit for any business. A well-developed partnership with United Way provides employees with these and many other benefits:

  • Nothing builds team spirit and lifts employee morale like joining together for a good cause such as partnering with United Way.

  • Through United Way, employees have an easy way to support the community. They can support services and programs that they or their co-workers might someday need. They can make a difference by donating as little as $2 per month. With one donation they can support not just one cause but several.

  • United Way of San Luis Obispo County provides numerous opportunities throughout the year for groups of employees to unite and make a difference through community volunteer activities and participation in special events.

RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM

A Workplace Giving Program can be run in several different ways and is always customized to meet your needs. All that United Way asks for is the support of management. The greatest success comes when a United Way representative or volunteer speaks briefly to your employees. At this informational meeting, United Way will talk about local programs that have created a positive impact. We will also answer any questions that employees might have.

The average enrollment period lasts about two weeks. Employees can give a onetime gift or participate through payroll deduction. Onetime gifts can be made by credit card, cash or check. If they choose payroll deduction, deducted amounts can be sent to United Way monthly or quarterly.

Living united means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. LIVE UNITED. To start your own Workplace Giving Program, contact Horace Morana at (805) 541-1234 or hmorana@unitedwayslo.org
