Is a Time-of-Use Rate Plan Right for You?

Did you know that Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) offers its customers a choice of electric rate plans for their household? We are working with them to help get the word out because choices are pretty cool. Choices give you greater control in selecting the plan that’s right for you and your household.

One option is PG&E’s Time-of-Use rate plans. On these plans, when you use electricity is as important as how much you use. You can benefit from lower pricing during the times of day when demand is lower and when renewable resources are more plentiful. That’s 19 hours per day when costs are lower.

If you can shift some of your electricity use, like laundry or running the dishwasher, to lower-priced times of the day, a Time-of-Use rate might be right for you. Plus, PG&E has a lot of simple tips on how to shift your energy use to those lower priced hours!
